I actually think it does a disservice to Elayne, Min and Aviendha to think that everything that they are must have been exceeded by Ilyena just because Lews Therin sometimes comments on some similarity between Rand's wives and Ilyena.
And I don't think the Pattern really cares about who will "mate" with the Dragon. Min's Viewings show what will happen to specific people, and prophetic dreams offer glimpses into the future. Neither actually gives us any indication as to what the Pattern "wants" or is programming for. Ilyena and their children ended up being destroyed by Lews Therin, which somewhat argues against the idea that the Pattern gives one whit for how to make the Dragon's life more pleasant.
The Pattern is a system, not a matchmaker or dating service.

That's a very simplistic way of looking at things. It's entirely possible that the Pattern tries to balance the Dragon with a suitable female - to help him when he needs her. The Pattern has been a fan of balance for Ages, why not in this too?
