She was only born with the surface level things necessary to meet the criteria. She's smart, pretty and powerful. Unfortunately she has nothing else to offer as LTT and Jordan point out to us. Compassion? Empathy? Selflessness? She's never had any of these qualities.



50% of AS went to the DO, that doesn't mean that they were anywhere near as evil as the top dogs! You are reading entirely too much into a statistic that could have had as much to do with self-preservation as true personality.

Lanfear survived because she's a ruthless psychopath. Galina and Alviarin aren't anywhere near the level of any of the Forsaken. They are petty and manipulative, and in Alviarin's case cold and calculated, but neither of them inspires mothers to scare their kids with tales of "The Black Ajah will come to get you if you don't behave".



You are making no sense. The fact is LTT got a good look into her and dumped her on her ass for being a selfish brat who (according to Graendal) threw tantrums. The man clearly recognized that she was at best shallow and likely already a sociopath. LTT is a man, Mierin's redeeming qualities were her hotness, and it's easy to be attracted to someone who is totally into you. Of course he was going to be drawn to her for a while... super hottie who is completely into you when you are young and inexperienced?

Charn was a crazy old man.



And no one is saying she was. What you are missing is that the building blocks of Lanfear were ALWAYS a part of Mierin, even if the Bore had not been drilled she would not have been a good person. She is and always has been a borderline personality. The only evidence you have is that LTT dated her for a bit and an old employee thought she was less than evil once upon a time.



Speaking of people misinterpreting... when did I say people are born good or evil and stay that way? I have no clue what factors were at play that lead Mierin down that path of becoming Lanfear, but it's obvious that whatever happened to her (and perhaps she was simply born this way) she always had this side to her.

The fact is that decades (possibly centuries) before the Bore enabled her to let it out, LTT saw it in her and left her for being selfish. The key here is not that he dated her, it's that he LEFT her. His leaving isn't what made her this other person, her being who she was is why he left her.

Lanfear did more than make a couple of "bad choices". She sold her soul to the devil and was willing to betray even that if she thought she'd benefit from it. Everything about all of the Forsaken screams of people who in our world were on the path of becoming serial killers, all they needed was the opportunity.
