They just have stick them into a human before giving them to Myrddraals. I can't think of a reason why that is needed, but to embed a soul? In RJ world souls are reborn and all, wouldn't it be VERY sinister and remarkable if the MDs walked along with dead souls in their swords.? Or whatever you may mean with binding a soul.

Wouldn't Ishamael have offered himself for the noble position of MD fodder if this were the case? Lose his soul that way.


Actually if I had to guess why the humans need to die to make the swords, I'd say it has something to do with human blood. Swords drink blood, after all. It's the first taste they're given.

I realize this isn't the main point you were making, put it caught my eyes.


Perhaps the sword wears out as the soul slowly escapes it's imprisonment? Just a thought.
