I have a somewhat basic philosophy that you can always improve something better while alive than dead. Owyn helped his village with the OP before he went insane, so I'd prefer to do that before running off aimlessly to the Blight. The Clan Chiefs should embrace their fates and work with it, rather than mutilate themselves.

Owyn helped his village? Where does it say that? And even if he did, how does that mitigate the risk of a massacre that he's submitting them to. Aimlessly? They're killing shadowspawn. That's plenty worthwhile.

Yeah, I think Thom mentions it. He used the Power to help the village, but then started acting strangely.

And who says the Aielmen kill anything? Show me one new male channeler who can run into the Blight and kill anything with saidin. It took Rand a year to learn how to seize saidin.

They still know how to dance the spears. As for Saidin, Rand channeled lightning when he was in danger and had no idea what he was doing. It was only his third time using the power.
When the Wolf King carries the hammer, thus are the final days known. When the fox marries the raven, and the trumpets of battle are blown.
