Why Travel if you've nowhere to go?
Why Compel, when you're more likely to be starved to death or eaten by bears, wolves, etc.? Or shot with an arrow.
Balefire was already officially forbidden knowledge, and deliberately not passed down.
Cuendillar is useless if you can't eat.
