I don't agree with "deus ex machina style"

Why 'save' her deus ex machina style, just so she could...do nothing in the next book?
Her role was utterly pointless in ToM. Basically instead of Moridin telling Slayer what to do, he gave Slayer to Graendal so she could tell him that to do. Seems like she wasn't really needed at all. At least we should have seen her in some confrontation against Rand, Perrin etc.
So what, she's saved for the last book to be mindtrapped by Moridin? How pathetic. she'd be better off dead then since her own unique character traits are worthless as a slave to the DO.

From the book one we've been told that rats and ravens are spies for the Shadow. How do you figure they do it? Now we know the answer that was bugging me from day one - special TP weave. And when I read this it was so "intuitively obvious" that it made me smile.
What was the purpose of Graendal?!

It's pacing and editing was bad, I see and agree on that. But the story overall was great.
