2) That other thread is about the lack of any real lasting setback for the Lightsiders that, for example, hasn't been brushed away with a 'psych!' (Moiraine) or 'there's a ter'angreal for that' (Bowl of the Winds for the weather, Choedan Kal access keys for the Cleansing, etc.)
The deaths listed here don't contradict the point of that thread.
