Moiraine was also trying to impress Siuan with her find. They'd just been speaking about the prestige the Reds had received for finding Elayne, so she was likely exaggerating to make the Blue's future gloating seem all the better.

Still, I do believe Nynaeve to be a great distance ahead of Egwene and co, and not based on isolated quotes but a whole range of them.
