Nothing interesting going on, so he doesn't pause and continues on with the story.
It's just unavoidable. The times when the ta'veren think of each other can't always coincide with when the one they're thinking of is doing something amazing, or even something mundane but still worthy of comment.

Interesting things can be going on at all times if the author decides it's so. Rand eating a meal with Min could have been interesting in itself. It was on the day Moiraine was rescued. He could have seen Rand eating a meal with Min, and Rand looked way less stressed than he had in weeks past, or Rand was smiling. Or so&so (Bashere, or whoever) entered the tent to speak with him, and Mat dispelled the image. Anything. Like I said, I enjoyed Rand seeing Mat and Tuon, then having a hilarious thought that was basically "why is Mat goofing around when I need him?" That could have easily been boring, but it wasn't (imo). All of the whirlpools in the past (once they started showing actual images) gave some insight and I always thought it was fun to see their reactions.
Also, if it can't be made interesting just don't show it, imo. The one I'm referring to was the 2nd vision in 2 pages.

Why did the rainbow visions get so boring?

It's incredible that some readers actually seem to prefer Sanderson's attempts at being an author

You forgot the part where Jordan was a terrible author.

Yeah, it's mindboggling that someone may have a different taste than you

It isn't life though. It's entertainment, and there's so much fun potential for that connection

It's definitely better when they see something interesting, or important

Like it or not, Sanderson is to blame for this

He's obviously responsible, but it's not a very serious offense.

I don't think Sanderson is a good writer. I just don't think Jordan was a good writer, either.

But even then, all he saw was Mat talking/flirting with Tuon.
