TOM as it stands is by a very long shot a worse novel than COT, even though with all the action and resolutions it's more exciting to long time readers of WOT. Literary speaking, it's still a complete mess. It makes COT look well structured and balanced, which COT is not!
I suppose this is the criticism I don't understand. Yes, I understand that technically ToM is worse than CoT. I noticed several flaws while reading it. But if you're going to criticize Sanderson's writing, then you should criticize Jordan's as well. And Jordan's writing is not good. His characters are two-dimensional at best, his plotlines are sloppy, and his sense of pacing is nonexistent. Jordan made an incredible world, populated it with incredibly uninteresting characters, and then told an incredibly simple story. But I enjoy it, because I'm not looking for good writing in WoT; I'm looking for a fun read.
I suppose I should count myself lucky that I go into WoT expecting mindless entertainment and not the next Faulkner.

It's incredible that some readers actually seem to prefer Sanderson's attempts at being an author

He's obviously responsible, but it's not a very serious offense.

I don't think Sanderson is a good writer. I just don't think Jordan was a good writer, either.
