I would agree with you on less structured parts of the series

He keeps arguing about a point that RJ has given us a verdict on. Period. End. IT'S HIS WORLD. He is the god. No matter what argument the reader makes up, in the end, the author is right about these things.
Actually, it's not quite that simple, at least not according to a literary theory. The author is dead, and not only in the literal sense. Whatever I can read into the books and argue well for, is just as likely as what anyone else, including the author, says.
Of course the fact that this is an unfinished work, which is going to be finished by someone with notes and instructions from, and therefore authority from, the author, means that whatever I say could be disproved in the end. But after the series is finished, my opinion is just as valid as Jordan's or Sanderson's, provided I can find arguments for it in the text.
All according to literary theory. Though I guess most people don't see it this way.
But you are arguing on a topic specifically called out as fact by the author ... This particular argument RJ was very clear on. If you were debating something that RJ was more vague about I would support your supposition that your opinion (if laid out well) is as valid as anyone's. Unfortunately for your argument here, the author laid it out as part of the historical fact about the world he created.
We can discuss all day long about the reasons Traveling vanished, and there could be a dozen of them, but the fact remains that it did indeed vanish and we have been told outright that no AS from the AoL survived the Breaking. You can't simply choose to ignore what was written by the author simply because you find it implausible.
Domani Drag Queen in the White Tower ... Aran'gar watch out!

It is a little odd. Maybe because channelers weren't united for a while?
