Taringail wasn't a minor noble. He was Laman's heir when he married Tigraine. He only removed himself from the line of succession when he married into Trakand. At that point, he didn't care so much because he already had a son who was heir to Laman. The Aiel war changed all that, of course.


He wasn't Laman's heir, Laman's next younger brother was. Taringail was in the line of succession, that's different.

Laman would not have married his heir to the daughter-heir of Andor... it's the deaths in the AW that made Taringail and his sisters/half-sisters Laman's closest relatives.
