It most certainly is... fionwe1987 Send a noteboard - 01/12/2012 03:52:45 PM

We've only seen Alanna try to control him once, and that was right after she bonded him, and he was holding saidin then. I doubt she tried again after that, given what a horrible experience it was for her. Furthermore, we have Sammael confirm that holding saidin protects you against Compulsion...it would stand to reason that it also works for Compulsion through the bond. We have absolutely no reason to believe that channelers have built-in protection against any type of Compulsion, be it through the bond or otherwise.

I think your contention that Alanna tried it only once is not supportable. When she did try it, it wasn't even on screen. We have no idea what Rand was doing when she tried it. It certainly was not right after she bonded him, because they were trying to shield him after that, and got shielded immediately after. And you need to use the Power to compel your Warder too, its not a matter of mental effort alone.

And Sammael said holding saidin protects you against smaller forms of compulsion. As we have seen when Graendal compelled Moghedien and Cyndane, it protects against nothing when more powerful forms are used. And we can be certain Alanna didn't try to control Rand by making him think she was pretty. She would have tried to make him obey. He didn't, and holding saidin does nothing against that kind of compulsion.

Added to which, we have the Asha'man adding the extra bit to their Warder bonds. Why have them do that if the normal bond is enough?
