Because they had only a strange witchs word they would die, and leaving w/ her was perilous, too. Joel Send a noteboard - 15/01/2013 06:17:16 PM
Forget I said that, though. I'm not interested in convincing you if you disagree. It's not worth the precious time of my life that it would waste.

Plus it meant abandoning their homes and family with no guarantee both would not be attacked again (as, in fact, they eventually were.) Just because leaving with Mo was the only viable choice (of which they could not be certain) did not make it an easy one. The nature of hard choices is that they are between options that ALL carry danger. Unfortunately (at least for us,) few of Our Heroes' hard choices required much lasting sacrifice, which did impair their development somewhat.

We need not debate it unless you wish; you may have noticed I have little time or energy for that recently. However, a sweeping fundamental indictment of the series on one of its fan pages does invite rebuttal. ;)

You just hit on probably the major structural weakness of the series with respect to characters. - 15/01/2013 02:54:59 AM 1093 Views
I think this is why I still enjoy Rand as a character so much - 15/01/2013 03:37:52 AM 1013 Views
There were plenty of hard choices, but they might have been handled better. - 15/01/2013 06:58:30 AM 1194 Views
You obviously have a much lower threshold than I do in defining "hard choices". *NM* - 15/01/2013 03:47:52 PM 549 Views
We are introduced to them as they choose between abandoning home w/ a stranger v. staying to die - 15/01/2013 04:46:02 PM 1022 Views
Also, how is choosing not to die a hard choice? - 15/01/2013 05:46:46 PM 928 Views
