I had not noticed that before, but you are right. Joel Send a noteboard - 15/01/2013 07:45:53 PM
Its strange that some readers actually like Tuon... She's a monster and about as human as one of the Forsaken.

I used to really like her. But Jordan's Tuon and Sanderson's Fortuona literally read like two different people. Tuon was clever and honorable, cared passionately about justice and was, occasionally, kind. Fortuona is a power-hungry megalomaniac, makes stupid impulsive decisions and is apparently devoid of human emotion. I can't figure out if Sanderson is just that bad at writing her character or he dislikes the Seanchan enough that it's what he really thinks of her.

Originally Tuon was very reminiscent of Galad, but with more (overt) compassion, or perhaps more like Galad after Morgase tells him the facts of life in ToM. Now she is just a cold tyrant convinced might makes right.

You just hit on probably the major structural weakness of the series with respect to characters. - 15/01/2013 02:54:59 AM 982 Views
I think this is why I still enjoy Rand as a character so much - 15/01/2013 03:37:52 AM 941 Views
