I read somewhere one should hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

Though with books and movies the only preparation possible is steeling oneself against disappointment. That made AMoL less underwhelming than it would otherwise have been.
Naetheless, I am still angry Bela died while Faile and Olver lived. Apparently bad tempered whining and viciousness are virtues in Randland, and stoic good humor and faithfulness vices. Maybe that explains what happened to the Trakand brothers; too bad for Gawyn he matured beyond his contrariness, else he might have survived (except, of course, he probably would have committed suicide-by-battle when Egwene died.)

Gawyn matured?

Yes; he grew beyond "I can ignore the rules and everyone must obey me because I know best."

Because that's clearly Egwene's job, and there wasn't room for two of them in that relationship

Essentially; maybe he did not so much mature as bow to the absurd.

Was her death not redemptive? Did she not admit Rand was right about the Seals?

Wow, you predicted a plot progression in a predictable and completely worthless series of books.

"Non-orthodox" is a somewhat unorthodox spelling as well; does that invalidate it?
