So, what's next? Rand can't figure out where Demandred or Mesaana are so he launches a preemptive strike against Tar Valon and every nation that seems resistant to his demands?

I think this was a terrifying slippery slope and I'm glad he backed away from it and became a human being again. As Nynaeve said; Noone should have access to enough power to do something like that.
