Rand was pretty close to outright insanity at this point in the story - he came close to attacking Nynaeve with the power of the Choedan Kal at one point!

I think he was very close to balefiring the White Tower just to avoid dealing with Aes Sedai. Especially with Lews Therin's prompting.
