Sammael thought holding the OP made you immune to Compulsion, and Graendal disproves that.

No, Sammael said that it gives you partial protection against it, or at least gives you some form of resistance. It's like holding saidin gives you some protection against being shielded.

However, if someone like Graendal at full strength uses Compulsion or a shield on you, it will work even if you're holding the Power.

Here's the quote:

Sammael would not be surprised if every Domani who visited here left believing that this land had been handed down in her family since the Breaking. She used Compulsion so often like a hammer that one might forget that she could wield the weaker forms of it with great delicacy, twisting a mind's path so subtly that even the closest examination might miss every trace of her. In fact, she might have been the best at that who ever lived.
He let the gateway vanish but held on to saidin; those tricks did not work on someone wrapped in the Source.

If Sammael was thinking that the "weaker forms" of Compulsion that she can weave with great delicacy are "tricks", then I can understand your interpretation.

However, when Moghedien encounters Nynaeve and Elayne in Tanchico, Elayne is holding the Source with prepared weaves of Air to hold someone, and weaves of Spirit ready to shield. Moggy pretty much overwhelms her. We later learn from Moghedien that she doesn't consider herself that adept at Compulsion, (crude in comparison to Graendal).
Where once was Shadow
Now reigns Light
Darkness fades

I made the switch!
