She is one of the "Chosen" Forsaken.
I believe that she is still in the White Tower.

I don't know anything about Mesaana really, but I don't find it out of the realm of possibility that she may have done one of two things.

The First is the one that I find to be most probable; she swore the oaths and then said that she was not Black Ajah. Simple as that.
The reason she would have been able to do this is that even after taking the oaths it is possible to tell a lie. All you have to do is believe it. How else can one group of Aes Sedai claim two different Amyrlins? Mesaana thinks of herself as being ABOVE THE BLACK.

The second way is she could have compelled the sister she was posing as let her do it for her. Whether or not that sister were Black I believe that the compulsion would allow her to say that she wasn't.

But of course I believe that Mesaana took the oaths herself and passed the test because in her mind She Is Not Black Ajah.
