Odd how Sammael is the only Forsaken Moridin actively moved to kill and that the DO didn't transmigrate him after the fact. I've long believed that if the FS had to have reasons for killing each other outright, (part of the game the DO makes them play for his favor), I wonder if Moridin had a "chat" with the DO and was able to make a case to be rid of Sammael.
Moridin helped Rand to survive, but didn't actively kill Sammael. Moridin even explicitely says that he won't kill Sammael. This was done by Rand and Mashadar.
Furthermore, it was reported that "Brandon also said that the Dark One would have liked very much to transmigrate Sammael but didn’t. Apparently, since he died by Mashadar, Sammael was either unable to be transmigrated or it would have been a very bad idea. Basically, Mashadar tainted Sammael’s thread somehow."
However, considering SH's PoV in ACoS, ch.40, it seems that Sammael wasn't such highly favored by the DO to make him Nae'blis.
