Dumb Bell Distribution of Mongoloid Turings Abunderment Send a noteboard - 31/12/2009 04:36:50 AM
here's what Wikipedia has to say about a Bell Curve

In probability theory and statistics, the normal distribution or Gaussian distribution is a continuous probability distribution that describes data that cluster around the mean. The graph of the associated probability density function is bell-shaped, with a peak at the mean, and is known as the Gaussian function or bell curve.

If you have a better theory put it out there instead of just sitting back telling the rest of us we are stupid... until then

You just don't get it, even when you cut and paste. Note key word in your quote: "describes".
The distribution describes the data.
(The distribution is not the data.)

Refer to the example I gave you earlier on IQs. This is an analogous concept.

You cannot take data from a FREQUENCY distribution and manipulate mathematically. IQ100 +IQ110 does not equal anything!

The FREQUENCY distribution is for prediction, validation etc.

Re stupidity, don't shoot the messenger Darius. Your initial mistake was neither here nor there. Your refusal to consider that you made a mistake is what is telling.

take a deep breath, we're not trying to save the friggin world. None of us have anywhere close to the data set necessary to map any of this information ... it's a hobby we like to play at ... the author claims his system maps to a Bell Curve distribution, the rest is 100% assumption, as I state in the original post by pointing out the information we have at hand, oh and the stuff that I was assuming. Your attitude that we must be 100% mathematically accurate is laughable, I don't think anyone takes this stuff that seriously!

Hurling insults on an internet forum just makes me think you need to get out more.

Funny, I thought you were being insulting.

Anyway, we interpret fantasy world using real world concepts, ok? So we should get those real world concepts right. You are stoically determined to use a nothing idea - neither real world or fantasy. Why not use a dumb-bell distribution? More appropriate.

How do you know there is insufficient information? You are not sufficiently numerate to know you are not sufficiently numerate! Like a tree does not know that it can't speak Mongolian.

You go to lots of trouble to posit a situation, then claim it is all nothing, and anyone taking it seriously should get out more?

How do you maintain a sense of self? You write so many mutually inconsistent things. Perhaps you are a Turing machine.

That must be it.
