So far their vast knowledge of channeling on the battlefield enables them to...create more brightly colored fireballs and larger lightning bolts than the Aes Sedai or Ashaman can. Of all of the channelers in the series, Rand and Lanfear have made the best showing of some devastatingly effective channeling on the battlefield, so if Taim were trained by one, I'd hope it would be by Rahvin b/c Ishamael didn't do to well, either.

It's possible of course that RJ just got tired of describing exactly what the channeling looked like and just used default descriptions in many of the scenes, though.
