Wherever he was, the Pattern would find some way to free him. Look at Verin's reaction when she was told that Elaida planned to capture Rand and take him to the Tower. She felt he was too strongly ta'veren, and would have wreaked havoc there.

I suspect Verin was concerned about what Rand would do to the people in the tower. With a ta'veren downstairs, the AS would suddenly have found themselves unexpectedly spouting secrets and the like. Imagine the chaos if Elaida were to suddenly start speaking the full truth about everything for example. Now imagine that happening to every AS.

I think if Moridin put Rand in a cave with no people, and contained him well enough (Cuendillar chains for instance), even ta'veren would find it VERY difficult to free him.

If ta'veren could do anything, there would be no point in the shadow trying to win afterall. It is a big help for Rand certainly, but its not the ultimate answer to everything.

I'm talking about the previous time Semirhage tried to capture him with a male a'dam.

This time around, when she went around using Rand through the a'dam to kill various people, Nynaeve would have used her weave which releases the a'dam, and that would have been the end.

Assuming the male a'dam is released the same way. Though I admit the point is moot. With so many AS and Asha'man, Rand would have been shielded and Semirhage recaptured if she had actually tried to use Rand to fight.

If she had Travelled away with him, Avi, through her bond, would have known where he was, and a rescue attempt would have been mounted that the Pattern would have ensured the success of.

It is true that the bond would have revealed where Rand is, or atleast his general direction. But there is a big difference between that and actually freeing him. If Moridin got his hands on Rand, he would certainly arrange for him to be well contained. Freeing him would not be easy.

And that is assuming that nothing permanent had been done in the meantime. What if he had been mind-trapped. Or forcibly turned. Or if Moridin had decided to hack of his other hand (and legs too) to make him less of a threat while still keeping him alive. Or something.

Rand channeling TP was bad. But if he had been taken to the blight, it would have potentially been much MUCH worse.

Did Cadsuane actually get any secrets from Semirhage during her breakdown? - 12/01/2010 01:38:04 PM 1244 Views
I don't think Cadsuane learned anything from Semirhage... - 12/01/2010 02:09:26 PM 671 Views
Of course it was necessary to the plot. It's why Shaitan sacrificed Semirhage. *NM* - 12/01/2010 04:28:10 PM 252 Views
Doubt that Rand's TP use was intended - 12/01/2010 04:44:12 PM 506 Views
It seems very reasonable that the DO would give Rand access to the TP - 12/01/2010 05:22:17 PM 531 Views
i thought BSand said that the DO wasn't aware ... am I making that up? *NM* - 12/01/2010 05:24:26 PM 223 Views

A rescue attempt at SG seems pretty difficult, though. And Min would be dead. - 13/01/2010 08:09:33 AM 458 Views
