Harry Potter Re-read: The Philosopher's Stone - Final section underway! (& next book plans)
Rebekah Send a noteboard - 12/07/2010 08:27:51 AM
Welcome, RAFOnauts, to the Great Harry Potter Re-read.
Over the next couple of months, we’ll read and discuss the 7 books of JK Rowling’s phenomenally successful series. There’ll be a separate thread for each book, with sub-threads to discuss the chosen sections.
For the first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (or Sorcerer’s Stone, if you live in the US of A), we’ll discuss chapters 1-3 today, 4-10 on Wednesday, and 11 to the end on Friday.
Discussion for the second book will start on Monday 19 July.
Posts will likely contain spoilers, so just be aware of that if you're one of those who haven't yet read the book!
A few ground rules:
- Please keep your replies under the sub-threads below. You are welcome to start your own main headings as well.
- Although this is a re-read, it is possible that people haven’t yet read the books and are just reading this to help them decide whether they’re finally going to take the plunge and start the series. Accordingly, please keep spoilers out of subject lines. (Changed my mind about spoiler tags already. They're not needed.)
- If you’ve got any suggestions for the rest of the re-read then post them in the suggestions thread below.
That’s it! Get replying!
And have fun!
EDIT: Opening the last section a little early as I'm not sure I'll be able to do it tomorrow.
For The Chamber of Secrets we're going to do this a little differently. There are 18 chapters, so we'll discuss it in 6 sections of 3 chapters each. So Monday - Monday (just in case people are not able to join over the weekend). I won't be able to make the post till late in the day on Monday (well, early enough for the US types), so unless one of the other admins is back from break by then, you'll just have to wait.
