Something which is not so much about foreshadowing, but which relates to consistency in this one book, at least: why can Quirrel touch Harry in The Leaky Cauldron? I haven't read the end yet this time around (I am sticking to Rebekah's Plan), but I seem to remember that being important in the end: Voldemort, or anyone possessed by Voldemort, cannot touch Harry.


Mainly because I noticed the same thing and went back and scoured for details.

In the Leaky Cauldron, Quirrell didn't have the turban on yet, implying that Voldemort wasn't attached at that point. I think Voldemort only decided to attach after Quirrel failed to steal the Stone from Gringott's (as revealed in the final climactic scenes), which happened later that day.

Also, Harry mentions (or notices or something) when he first gets to Hogwarts and sees all the teachers that Professor Quirrell was wearing some kind of funny turban.

Aha, found it. "Harry spotted Professor Quirrell, the nervous young man from the Leaky Cauldron. He was looking very peculiar in a large purple turban."

And at the end Quirrell says, "He does not forgive mistakes easily. When i failed to steal the stone from Gringotts, he was most displeased. He punished me...decided he would have to keep a closer watch on me...."
