I know that the kids getting through the traps was important and necessary. I really do. I'm okay with the fact that it happened, and how it happened, because it's a kid's book and that's what had to happen. It was well done.

But the grown up, nitpicky part of my brain always screams, somewhere in the back of my head, that this is madness. They built security features to protect the Stone from dark wizards, from Voldemort himself. They moved it to Hogwarts because these security features are apparently supposed to be even better than Gringotts, with its goblins and endless passages and dragon, etc. This shit is impregnable.

Yet three first-year students with extremely limited knowledge of magic defeat the traps.

I know, I know, the traps weren't all about magic. They were much more about knowledge and thinking (except the flying keys ... though I expect rather than use the brooms, Quirrel just did an old Accio Key and down it came). But the point stands, dammit.

Also, isn't there a magical way to make doors immune to the simple door-unlocking charm that Hermione used to open the door into Fluffy's chamber? It's not much of a locked room if anyone who's ever studied magic can pop it open.

Inner nitpicking aside, it was great how they worked together to defeat the traps, all three of them being instrumental (get it?) to the eventual success ... even though Quirrel would never have gotten the Stone out of the mirror at the end anyway. :p
