The commentary by Jordan and McGonagall yelling at him is really nice comedic relief. I can just hear them in my head every time I read it.
I love the commentary. And he is right of course. SO right.
Then Ron waking up to Black standing over him with a knife and you automatically think that he's there to kill Harry and just had the wrong bed. That is a really good example of misdirection that become perfectly clear later on. I love that.
Yes. Rowling has really mastered misdirection at this point. This is one of (if not the) best book(s) for it. It reads like a detective novel.
And I love the map insulting Snape when he tries to figure out what it is. And Lupin hinting at knowing Harry's Father (and the mapmakers) when he says that the creators of the map would find luring him out very funny.
Indeed. I think the Lupin sections are very much written for the re-reader, if that makes sense. The emotional impact of Lupin's (to the first-time reader) cryptic reactions is much greater when you know what his history is.
And of course Harry beating out Malfoy and winning the cup for Gryffindor was classic.
Yup.
