While I agree that this is an excellent bit of misdirection, on this go around, I have to wonder how exactly this news got around.

According to the book, the guards told Fudge that he was muttering in his sleep... but aren't the only guards dementors? Do they talk?

I can't remember if they do in later books or not, but I mostly seem to remember them as not being too fond of vocalizing.


I have been wondering about that, too.
It would be an excellent question to ask Rowling if anyone were to bump into her at some point. It bugs me.
