I'm not saying he's Dostoevsky reborn or even eloquent. I'm not saying he doesn't write stupid things from time to time. The point is that nothing he has written justifies the absolute hatred that people have of him. Moreover, most of these same people read utter crap by other authors and don't bat an eyelash over it.

I agree with your final statement - he is enjoyable to read if you don't take him too seriously.
