Most reliable research I found puts the number around 30000. That is quite a gap, I should think. 30000 spread out on a period of 100 years isn't so devilish compared to how stuff used to be during those times.

TO be more on topic, I think the DaVinci code is an overhyped page turner. Brown starts off smartly by using light cryptography puzzles to hook the reader. That's what got me into the book. Once I was in there I had to wade through all the silly action, female superiority complexes and pseudo history just to get to the end. Is it any wonder people feel tricked?
As a Jewish reader I can tell you I don't care avout the Catholic Church or who is Mary Magdalane and her minor ties to the house of David.
I'm sure the readers who read his work and took the time to reflect upon it don't hold much value with garden variety quacks either.

Why is it that so many people hate Dan Brown? - 14/09/2009 09:24:31 PM 2575 Views
His prose is bad. Very bad. - 14/09/2009 09:28:28 PM 1435 Views
It's not any worse than Robert Jordan's prose. I'd say it's better, in fact. - 14/09/2009 09:30:17 PM 1269 Views
