But interesting.

It is so difficult to find good translations. I always wonder what I've missed out on through my inability to read in another language. I really, really must get my French learning going. Alas. So slack.


You don't know what a bad translation is. Ok, that is perhaps a very strong statement. But Norwegian translations, especially Norwegian translations from 50, are truly horrid things in which the translator feels free to cut the stuff he doesn't like and introduce entirely new things he has dreamt up himself.


I am not a strong opponent of re-imagining a book. I like how Eco is translated (not always word for word, but recreating the feel of it).
