They have done a lot that is better than the classics it is just that they are not classics yet. My five year old would rather watch Tangled then Snow White and isn't she the target audience regardless of what a bunch of adults think about the classics?

Snow White is a classic because it's the first, but apart from the evil stepmother and a few iconic scenes, it's not really that great a movie. While Tangled was surprisingly good.
