Pure condescension, and not very subtle about it.
I said I had revisited several books that I loved when I was 9-12 years old and that compared to them, I doubted that me at that age would have liked D&D. Considering that was in response to an earlier comment about how these books' supposed target audience is pre-teen to early teens, there was no condescension involved, only an admission that these books probably wouldn't have been to my taste at any age.
