Dracula* – Bram Stoker

Excellent book.

The Penguin History of New Zealand – Michael King

I'm meaning to (buy and) read their history of the US.

Njál's Saga – Anon. (one of the Íslendingasögur or Sagas of Icelanders)

King Harald's Saga – Snorri Sturluson

Seen both of these in a book shop and they sounded good but I was already buying several books so I didn't get them.

Raw Spirit – Iain Banks

I really liked this - doubles as a travel guide of sorts to Scotland

The Master and Margarita – Mikhail Bulgakov

Very good book.

Things Fall Apart – Chinua Achebe

I really liked this book, it is excellent but sad (though it shouldn't be sad... which shows how well written it is - the author creates sympathy where it shouldn't exist)

Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell* – Susanna Clarke

Jolly good book.

Catch-22 – Joseph Heller

I love this book. The follow up was dreadful though.

Dune – Frank Herbert

Excellent book.

On the Road – Jack Kerouac

Sat patiently waiting for me to read it.

One Hundred Years of Solitude – Gabriel García Márquez

ditto.

The Life of Pi – Yann Martel

I liked this.

Atonement – Ian McEwan

I prefer very good book. I love McEwan.

My Name is Red – Orhan Pamuk

I'm a big fan of Pamuk as well, I really, really liked this book.

2010!

Robert Graves "There is no money in poetry, but then there is no poetry in money, either."

Henning Mankell "We must defend the open society, because if we start locking our doors, if we let fear decide, the person who committed the act of terror will win"
