It comes down to the obedience of the law and awareness (on both sides' parts). The problem is drivers like to be gleefully unaware that anyone would DARE ride in THEIR road. Even us moped-riders (going the freakin' speed limit) get yelled, honked and cursed at.

Luckily I have upgraded my moped and can now move plenty fast. They'll still try to wiz around me and invade my lane, if I drive "too slow" though. Because cars make people jackasses.
