See, that's what I'm saying... MalkierKnight Send a noteboard - 12/08/2010 07:37:26 PM
Mine included.

No, it doesn't change what a Christian is, but it does go against certain interpretations of the Bible. Following that Bible is fairly fundamental to the Christian religion. (I'm not going to get into which is and isn't the "correct" interpretation of God's Word...)

I think the State should ensure that there is marriage for homosexuals - or, at the very least, an option for people of all orientations that is equal in Law. The State should ensure that there is full freedom for all, so long as that freedom does not harm another person or their property.

But the State should NOT impose its opinion on private institutions. People can vote with their feet should they disagree with institutions' rules. Or earnestly talk with them to do what they can to change those rules. But enforce laws where harm does not come into it? No.

I do not think that my church should perform those marriages (either by the decision of Synod or through State dictate) because it's my personal opinion, based on my understanding of the Bible, that homosexuality is wrong. MY opinion, one I do not, and never will, force on other people.

Christians marry lots of individuals who do things that are wrong. In fact, I'm sure there are many Christians who are married that have done such awful things it pales in comparison to homosexuality.

The line between discrimination and opinion is a very thin one. I don't see how you're not discriminating here since you've offered no reasoning for why gay's ought not be married and addressed none of my points. It was a lengthy post so I can sympathize with not reading it entirely.
You must unlearn what you have learned.
