Actually there is craziness in a lot of places and not just Texas (and in Texas, like in other places, it's still illegal, the difficulty is proving it).

Churches can no longer burn people at the stake for heresy (at one time this was legal) or torture confessions out of people.

But still, Freedom of Religion is defined within the constitution and if the state starts writing doctrine, which is what you're basically asking them to do, then they step over that line.

The current church/state line seems to be - you can do what you like as though you were a private club. Private clubs can exclude ANYONE legally. For ANY reason. Even racist or homophobic ones.

You're entitled to your belief, but our culture isn't ready to entirely do away with religion or to have a secular state run it -and that's what you're proposing.
