Anyone have a stat on the last time a passenger mistakenly carried a GUN on board a US flight, btw...?
I don't know if we have any accurate data on that. No person in their sane mind would admit they did, unless they did it on purpose.
However, see link.
I find that hard to believe. It's not like Al Qaeda and Co. are any less eager to hijack or blow up US airliners, and several attempts to do so have failed spectacularly. Meanwhile, as far as I'm concerned a "friendly and helpful" TSA screener SHOULDN'T be in that job long, because they're not paid to be friendly and helpful, they're paid to be hardasses with no sense of humor. Just because I once longed to respond to "Purpose for visiting Canada?" with "Whores, international whores.... " doesn't mean I actually did it, or wouldn't have deserved the resultant full body cavity search if I had.

The thing about the gun just proves how good the behavioural profiling is.
