That anthropomorphizing the universe does not represent an irrational cognitive error if you are assuming from the start that there is a Creator of some sort that is relatable on human terms, as you might assume from a religious viewpoint. So you're not misattributing human characteristics because they really do exist - given the assumptions of a particular metaphysical framework (i.e. religious beliefs).
Is that right? I think that's right.
So, if there's a God, who is kind of like people, other things might be too? Yes?
If there is a God who's like people, then it's not unreasonable to assume that the universe has a goal, thus making that particular anthropomorphism justified.
