It's still inappropriate to do that, mind, but if it's done so often one can't really single out Palin for it, true.
They've come up with two references in news articles, one in WSJ and the other at Human Events using the blood libel remark plus a right wing jewish talk show host referring to the accusations as blood libel before she did without any outcry so its tricky not to view this as Episode 156 of 'All Palin says is Dumb Evil'
I'm not expert enough to know if the reference is appropriate or not, I've certainly heard it used a lot without talking about Jews and kidnapped children so that I've always viewed its use the same as I would Lynch Mob... in that it doesn't require the targets be British Loyalists, nor would I really worry much if someone was referencing Star Chambers, Kangaroo Courts, or McCarthyist tactics.
