Re: I recently attended a wedding. mother of pearl Send a noteboard - 15/04/2011 02:59:47 PM
It was my own. :)

1. 'Did you ever attend a wedding? (if not, prob this survey isn't for you)

A few yes.

2. Do you like weddings?

As long as they don't involve ambulances then they can be pretty fun.

3. Did you ever organize a wedding? (Was it your own?)

Yes. It took three days. No, seriously. I called the bakery to schedule a cake tasting. They booked me for a tasting the next day. Immediately following that I called a local hall to see it, then I called a restaurant that my husband and I love to see if they catered. The answer was yes. Went to the hall, we hated it. Went to the restaurant and it turned out that they had, tucked away in the back of the restaurant, a GORGEOUS hall that fit exactly the amount of people we were having at our wedding. Booked the hall, the cake, and the catering all in the same day. Decided against a DJ, as my husband and I personally feel that all wedding DJ's have their own special ring of hell. My mother in law demanded that she be in charge of our decorations. I gave her color swatches and let her have at it. The next day my father in law told us that a guy in his biker club (Not as exciting as it sounds, they're called the "Rolling Fossils" as they're all over 50) was a mayor in our state and could therefore perform our ceremony. We were set. It was so much simpler than I thought it would be.

4. What was the best wedding you ever went to, and why was it so good? (cue for: my own, because I love my spouse so much! real intention of question is that I want to know what made the party fun)

The best wedding I have ever been to was a friend of mine's thrown in an inn. It wasn't fun because of the entertainment that they had set up, but rather for the people who attended. Not very helpful, I am sure.

Worst wedding I have ever attended involved a one hour sermon which included a lot of fire and brimstone and declaimed any non Calvanist to be a secret devil-worshipper that would surely be going to hell. That was when the best man fell over and had to be rushed to the hospital. Night. Mare.

5. What kind of wedding would you like to throw yourself (if you were to marry at some point)?

If I could do it all again I would probably have limited the number of guests to immediate family only. Either that or go the complete opposite way and invite all of my friends and family, so that they might properly scandalize each other.

6. Do you like traditional weddings, or ones that do something unique/funny?

It has been my experience that NO ONE likes traditional weddings. They're not the ones that stick out in someone's memory. Everyone wants to have a neat story about this AWESOME thing that happened at the wedding. No one likes a ho hum wedding.
