I think you may see these comments as negative comments about Huntsman. Sorry but that really only shows that you don't have a strong understanding of the American right. This was an article written for a conservative audience and the quote you referenced won't hurt him in the primary.

I find it hard to believe a conservative audience would read that line and not take it as a sneer at their views, what with the extreme exaggeration.

When a conservative sees a guy with a tee-shirt that says "Alcohol, Tobacco And Firearms should be the name of a convenience store, not a government agency" or "Gun control is holding it with both hands" his reaction is not "How dare you mock me!" or "Yes, that is an excellent point" but rather, "That's awesome!" I heard more kidding-on-the-square stuff like that at CPAC than I did about liberals or queers or what have you.
