His speeches do have a clear socialist agenda; too bad none of his policies have a hint of one. Joel Send a noteboard - 20/10/2011 10:25:01 AM
And Obama IS a socialist. No matter how he tries to dress it up and word his arguments, his actions speak ten times louder. I have not seen one domestic policy from Obama that does not equate to socialism and socialist policy and I have been looking for one. I listened to his campaign in 2008, but I did not stop listening at the rhetoric. His speeches, since he began running indicated a clear socialist agenda and that is something I have never agreed with. Since he has been in office, it has only continued and is slowly getting more overt.

If Obamas corporate welfare qualifies as "socialism" the GOP has a problem, because every Republican from Ulysses Grant to Ronald Reagan was up their necks in "socialism." In terms of nationalizing and/or controlling any industries, the closest Obama came was when he had the feds buy up enough GM stock to keep the company from declaring bankruptcy, but even that is temporary (GM has already bought back over half that stock, though it seems a $35 billion retirement fund shortfall will probably prevent additional repurchases in the near future.) More significantly, as with the bank bailouts, a primary criticism of that free tax payer money was that it was not accompanied by any government oversight or management of businesses managed so badly they not only bankrupted themselvs, but much of the planet along with them. In other words, even in the ONE company (not industry) where the government took controlling interest it was only as a silent partner that had no management role, and even that controlling interest no longer exists (though the feds do still have 27% of GM stock.)
