No, there's no requirement to cook the yolk in America... I like having a fully cooked egg white and then the yolk be as runny as possible. If you want to make fun of America and eggs, there's way worse egg related offenses. I think it's ridiculous to only want to white and to see the yolk as the undesirable unhealthy part- that's the best part!
Ave only said it was suggested. Is that true in your experience?
Throwing out the yolk and keeping the white is something I will never understand. Egg whites are tasteless. I had never heard of this bizarre practice, but then very little I learn about the USA surprises me any more.
