His reference to Dr. Willkes was nothing Romney and Ryan did not each tell Willkes they agreed with: Akin just had the courage of his convictions to say it publicly while they publicly condemned it. The GOP platform calls for a constitutional Amendment banning abortion with no exceptions, and when Akin needed a sponsor for his Sanctity of Life bill defining zygotes as persons, with all constitutional protections, Ryan was that sponsor. Are they mad about the comment, or it being public?
