If winning elections is all that matters, Republicans need only disavow abortion bans with no rape exceptions: Problem solved. Same way they stopped the similarly self-inflicted wounds from claiming an "act of terror" is not a "terrorist act:" by dropping it. Unfortunately (on many levels,) federal laws against abortion even for rape victims is manifestly more important to many GOP Congressmen (and would-be Congressmen) than being elected. So be it.
