At least half the country believes they should be able to keep their guns, and the Constitution protects them. This is the flip side of the abortion debate - the Left will never win no matter what it does. The best that it could hope for is to foment a civil war between the gun-owning populace and those who think that guns should be banned. Guess who would win that?


most of the members of Congress who have come out in favor of better regulation are hardly strictly dems or from "the Left". all of them have "A" ratings from the NRA for their stances on gun regulations. when the two opposing positions are "guns should have a process similar to getting a driver's license or owning a car" on the one side and "if only we had even more guns for people to shoot each other every day", it's hard for me to take seriously an argument which says that "the Left" is trying to "take your guns from you"
