In Israel there are plenty of guns and there have been very few cases of such shootings, not counting Israeli Palestinian incidents.

I always suspect it has something to do with the hugeness of the US. It is so big that for some people society must seem like a thing unto itself. For example, all those people that think the moon landing was a hoax. You can't think that if you personally know someone who works for NASA, but the US is so big you can find people who believe NASA is run by freaking illuminati aliens for the NWO.

What I'm trying to say is I think such size makes one feel anonymous.
You could say China is also big, but I think people in China live harder lives, which breeds more solidarity into them.
