You have an amazingly cherry-picked view of the world don't you? Peaceful protests often hurt people Isaac Send a noteboard - 01/10/2013 10:20:43 PM

We'll go ahead and dismiss your other remarks, they are, of course, rather stupid. some 'history' for you. The first government shutdown occurred exactly 37 years ago, between Ford and the Democrat controlled House and Senate. We then had 5 occur in fights between Democrat President Jimmy Carter and the Democrat-Majority Senate and House. We then had 8 of them under Reagan, all with Democrat House, and 7 with GOP Senates. We then had one under Bush I Dem House and Senate, then 2 under Clinton with GOP House and Senate, none under Bush II, and now one under Obama, Dem Senate and GOP House. So of the 18, including this current one, 15/18 occurred with Dem Houses, 9/18 under Dem Senates, 8/18 with Dem control of both houses and only 2, under Clinton, with GOP control of both houses. A whole shitload of those people are still in office, including Sen. Harry Reid, the current Majority Leader. So he is also, by your rather asinine definition, a terrorist.

I'm assuming in your world view it doesn't count if the shutdown occurred before 1993.

As to your nonsense about peaceful protest not hurting people, what world do you live in? If we go beyond direct physical violence and intentional acts of terror to include financial harm then just about every Union or Environmental 'non-violent protest' hurt lots of people, as has just about every cause ever.

Your gauge for this, how federal employees are being sent home, is a very bad one but if that is the gauge, here's some state for you:

Days of Shutdown under a Dem House, presidency, and senate: 57
Days of Shutdown under a GOP House, presidency, and senate: 0
Days of shutdown under a Dem Pres and Senate but GOP House: 1 (as of today)
Days of shutdown under a GOP Pres and Senate but Dem House: 13 (as of today)

So in the exact opposite case as now, the 7 government shutdowns under Regan when he had GOP senate but Dem House, I guess the Dems were 3x as much terrorists. And when they've had total control of all three they've shut it down 4.4x as much as the reverse as now and an infinite number of times more than a GOP triplet.

I'm sure, being a hyper-partisan and irrational person, you can find someway to convince yourself this is an unfair comparison, but when you do, please wait to share it with us until you've at least bothered to check if your 'proof' doesn't have an exact opposite and worse indictment of the side you're advocating first.

The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.
